Poetry (Wednesday) Friday

Last Friday was my dad’s birthday, and this Friday is the Sagittarius full moon… so poetry Friday is actually Wednesday this week! Huzzah!

Last year, our professor assigned us two Ekphrastic poems throughout the semester. Ekphrastic poetry is work in response to a piece of visual art. This is right up my alley if you know me, considering writing and drawing are what take up most of my time these days. Professor Parsons seemed to like this one…

The Yellow Scale by František Kupka

This has always been my favorite piece up at the Houston MFA. So expressive and narrative. Let alone the economy of the strokes, jeez! Kupka was a genius. And presumably one with a bad attitude. Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you think!
